Dr. Karen Murtaugh has been practicing as a primary care sport medicine physician since finishing her Sport Medicine Fellowship at McMaster University in 2007. Her main interest is the accurate and timely treatment of MSK complaints. Her approach involves the appropriate use of investigations, rehabilitation, bracing and injections, when necessary. She is certified by the Canadian College of Family Physicians and the Canadian Academy of Sport Medicine. Dr. Murtaugh holds a certificate of added competence in Sport and Exercise Medicine (SEM) and has a Focused Designation in Sport Medicine.
In addition to her clinical work, she has been a consulting physician at many events, including the 2017 Invictus Games Toronto, the 2015 Pan Am Games (Toronto), the Vancouver 2010 Games and the Toronto Women’s Half Marathon. Dr. Murtaugh is actively involved in teaching as an Assistant Clinical Professor (Adjunct), Department of Family Medicine, McMaster University and she is also Member at Large for the OMA Section on Sport and Exercise Medicine. Karen moved with her family to the Collingwood area in 2015 so they could enjoy the community, along with skiing, biking, hiking and many other local activities
